It was a surprise win for The Sign Maker at last night’s North Devon Business Awards – an evening held to celebrate some of the best businesses across this part of the county. Hosted by Robert Zarywacz (publisher of the Business Action Magazine), alongside Andrew Bowers (managing director of Peak Online), at the stunning Landmark Theatre in Ilfracombe, there was a fantastic night in store for us all!
Sitting amongst many of North Devon’s most cherished enterprises, we felt the competition would be tough. With over 120 entries to the awards, we settled in to enjoy the evening and gave little thought to the prospect of winning (our eyes were firmly fixed on sharing in the success of so many thriving businesses, and relishing in the joy of being there)! What a privilege it was to be surrounded by so many individuals – familiar faces and those behind emerging businesses too. With categories showcasing businesses from a variety of industries, there was certainly plenty to celebrate!
‘Made In North Devon’
As sign manufacturers and wheel cover specialists, we aspire for quality craftsmanship across all that we do. Though a bespoke service forms the core of the business, sustainability (and family) also exist at the heart – which is possibly the thing that allows us to stand out. Each finalist in the ‘Made In North Devon’ category could have walked away as a worthy winner. While this is true, we were overjoyed that our team’s commitment, attention to detail and design flare were deemed award-worthy. With this award, we hope to continue designing considerately, crafting innovatively, and serving our customers with their needs at the forefront.

Much to our shock and delight – there was still a surprise win for The Sign Maker in store. As the evening closed, we were invited to stand alongside those who’d been selected as the category winners. Still reeling with the excitement of receiving the ‘Made In North Devon’ award, we couldn’t imagine what would come next!
Walking away with the title of ‘North Devon Business Of The Year’, has been a huge shock to us. That being said, we also accept this accolade with immense pride. The skill and dedication of each individual is what has made The Sign Maker the business it is today. Even as things have changed onsite, the team has remained imperative to the business’ success. Collectively, we know that this will hold true no matter what challenges The Sign Maker faces! As we grow and diversify, we continue to challenge ourselves and stand out in the industry. This award belongs to our entire team, and we’ll be throwing a mini party to celebrate!
